Summary:
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned North Korea not to undertake a test of a long-range missileTaepodong-2 missile . “The possible missile launch that North Korea is talking about would be very unhelpful in moving our relationship forward,” Mrs. Clinton said. This is her first stop on her tour of Asia in which she will visit China, South Korea and Indonesia. In these visit she will discuss economic recovery, trade, the prevention of nuclear weapons proliferation and reversing global warming. Japan’s economy is deteriorating as of Monday they reached an economic low not seen in Japan since 1974. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Wishes to strengthen the alliance between the U.S. and Japan.
Explanation of Value:
I believe this is important because we should care about our relation with other countries especially in times of economic recession. North Korea has been a threat to the United States ever since they pulled out of the Nuclear Weapon Proliferation Treaty. Their decision to build nuclear arms and test them in their long-range missiles only weakens their. This presents a clear and present danger to our national security.
Will diplomatic talks be enough for North Korea to stop there nuclear arms build up?
What should the U.S. do to prevent them from using their missiles?
I'm posting my question to the class why do you think North Korea is making nuclear bombs that cause wide spread death instead of something that would only hit military bases?
ReplyDeleteThings to think about when responding:
fear
insane (for Adam)
not wanting to research new thing
range
etc...
When your leader comes to you and tells you to defecate on your lawn to help the soil and help the beautification the country, your not allowed to have nukes.
ReplyDeleteI think that this whole debate is kind of ridiculous. I don't think that the U.S. has the right to tell another country not to have nuclear weapons, when in fact we have way more than they do. I think as a country we are being very hypocritical. Just because North Korea has nukes doesn't mean that they are going to use them. I think that it is perfectly fine for them to have them. If it makes them feel better about their country, if it makes them think that they are becoming bigger, than whatever. It doesn't really matter much to us, because we are still more powerful, and it shouldn't even threaten us. We could still destroy them. And I honestly don't believe that anyone is going to start a nuclear war, because that would be the end of the world. *Knock on wood* because I know we do have some very insane people in the world.
ReplyDeleteYes and no, I feel as though yes, North Korea can have these weapons, but it should be monitored. The U.S. is hypocritical but also for a good reason. we are the "most powerful country" and the "richest" I guess you could say. even though our debt right now is reaching up to the trillions, if somehow North Korea decided to act upon its long going hatred then I don't think they would hesitate too much to push that red button. You never know what the enemy is thinking. Maybe they do want to wipe out the world and have their own community living among the Earth even if they don't last for very long they will have the satisfaction. But who knows? I am not saying we should take away their nuclear bombs, I'm saying they shouldn't be around at all. Why would we have things anyway that could potentially destroy all of human existence as we know it?
ReplyDeleteI agree with both Quinn and Sarah. North Korea should be allowed to have nukes, but it should be monitored. we have no right to tell someone else they cant have nukes, who elected us as delegate for the world? when did we suddenly get power to rule other countries? I admit the thought of NK having nukes is not very comforting but, like Sarah said who would start a nuclear war? Its just for power, so let them have it, just make it clear to them what will happen if they use it.
